MONEY IN MATERNITY

Thanks to Demi Moore on the cover of Vanity Fair, maternity photography has become mainstream and can be a lucrative part of your portrait business – especially if you do a lot of children’s photography (where do you think the children come from?).  Maternity photography happens all year round so it’s not seasonal income and it’s time sensitive so you don’t have clients putting it off till next year like family photos.  And just like children’s photography, parents value the new life that’s entering their world and are willing to spend money on this special occasion to capture it!  Damon will talk about targeting this market with your website, defining a style, and how to create beautiful images with those magnificent bellies!

Damon holds both a Bachelors and Masters of Arts degree from Purdue University and has been working professionally since 1991.  He started his business in Jacksonville in 2004 and began serving on the board of the local guild in 2006.  In 2007 he was the JPPG Photographer of the Year and also earned his Certification from PPA.  In 2011 he’s been elected to serve as the JPPG president.
